Prop Market Turnover: A Period Average Is Not Your Execution Price
Market volume and turnover describe activity over a defined period. Their ratio can support an aggregate average when the units and scope match. It does not establish that an account executed at that average or that all displayed size was available at once.

Match the trading window and quantity units
Record the market, symbol, interval boundaries, base-volume definition and quote-turnover unit. Do not combine a one-hour base total with a daily quote total or a different contract count. Source methodology and exclusions belong beside the ratio.
For a Singapore local display, retain full original instants for both interval endpoints. A UTC interval can cross local midnight without splitting into two independent source windows. Changing the diary label does not change the observations included in the total.
Calculate a fictional matched-window average
Suppose the same supplied interval has base volume 10 units and quote turnover 1,500 quote units. Their ratio is 150 quote units per base unit. If a second interval instead has volume 5 and turnover 800, its ratio is 160.
The combined matched-window average is(1,500+800)/(10+5), approximately 153.3333. Averaging 150 and 160 equally would give 155 and ignore their different volume weights. The calculation assumes the two intervals are non-overlapping and use the same definitions.
| Window | Base volume /quote turnover | Derived average |
|---|---|---|
| First | 10 /1,500 | 150 quote per base |
| Second | 5 /800 | 160 quote per base |
| Combined | 15 /2,300 | ≈153.3333 |
| Unweighted mean of window averages | (150+160)/2 | 155; different weighting |
Keep the account record independent
The related resource preserves this site’s volume-and-turnover method. A specific order still needs unique fill quantities, prices and costs. A period average cannot establish a provider’s actual account valuation or an execution entitlement.
The optional sponsored HashHedge link leads to current programme information. The exercise contains no live market totals or performance forecast. It connects to no feed or trading account and does not imply that the aggregate average can be captured by an evaluation strategy.
